The Old World

Before Aurelia, there was the Old World — a familiar northern continent seen through the cartography of Age of Instinct.

The Old World map shows North America as it might be preserved in an Age of Instinct atlas: familiar coastlines and names rendered with the same hand-drawn character as the maps of Aurelia.

A point of reference

Placing the Old World beside Aurelia gives the unfamiliar world a recognisable scale. Mountain ranges, inland waters and great distances become useful points of comparison before a journey crosses into stranger territory.

It also grounds the visual language of the setting. The ornate border, compass rose and weathered parchment belong to the same tradition of mapmaking, whether the land being recorded is known or unexplored.

Maps as invitations

A good roleplaying map should answer enough questions to begin a journey while leaving room for the table to make discoveries of its own. The routes, settlements and stories between these landmarks remain open — waiting for play to give them meaning.

Why players never pay

The single hardest thing about getting a group into a roleplaying game is getting everybody to say yes. Cost should never be the reason someone says no.
